I've been reading Ada Palmer's Inventing the Renaissance: The Myth of a Golden Age steadily for a few weeks now. Its a true door stopper (758 pages) from a university press, but I am finding it very enjoyable. But I'm also taking my time with it because this is a less than familiar era of history to me.
