At the start of this month, I took up an offer for 2 months of Kindle Unlimited at a reduced price. I was intending to have a flying visit at some point this year, when I'd accumulated enough that I wanted to read, but the offer made me jump early.

Most of things I have bookmarked are indie fantasy and related subgenres, where KDP is the main distribution platform, but I like a varied diet so I had a bit of a search for other things I could read in between or alongside: Crime, Non-fiction, and more mainstream SF and fantasy, and I put them in a wishlist for potential borrowing.

Twice now I have been suckered into buying books from that list when Open Road have dropped the purchase price to 99p. That means I don't have to read them during my 2-month fly-by. But they weren't really even on my radar except as potential borrows. It seems quite likely that it might happen again before the 2 months is up.

Added to which I'm not actually reading any purchases in this 2 month period since I want to maximise my KU time.
