I have a Kindle 3 (Wifi + 3G) model with the keyboard (B006), and I cannot prevent the OTA 1 update with 3G. Post installing the extension I did a reboot, locked the back door, confirmed it was locked via the text file, then turned on Wireless connection and once the 3G started up the screen would refresh post update and I would need to re-install MKK to get KUAL working again.
I've tried both methods (never at the same time).
1. Installing with update_backdoorlock_12_k3g_install.bin
2. Copying the directory backdoorlock in the extensions directory.
Once 3G starts up the silent update runs.
Has something changed with the way Amazon is doing the update? I'm trying to avoid resorting to SSH to edit the hosts file, or opening the unit to remove the 3G module/antenna as I don't know if the Wifi is also blocked with this extension.
