Also your payment method needs to be compatible. Paypal used to work for me for USA, but last time it didn't, but my Irish Current Account (bank HQ in Lithuania) sort of worked. I had to manually unfreeze the automatically frozen account and approve payment in the App, but it worked. Paypal is working OK for UK & Ireland.

Kobo only geolocates via IP to suggest which store if you are not logged in. If you are logged in, then the country (only if entire country is same rate or even no tax) or address (if regional taxes in the chosen country) overides the IP address.

Thanks so much for your input.

OK, so the audiobook I want is available in both Canada and the UK. Kobo is the best store for me, I think, because I already have Audible accounts in both those areas with my U.S. address and don't want to screw those up. I don't know if I have a working Kobo US account, but I did have one years ago. I was planning to use PayPal for payment.

Do you have an opinion on which would be best to try, Canada or UK, with the VPN set accordingly? As I mentioned earlier to issybird, I have a real aversion to making up a physical address.

I am beginning to think this might be more trouble than it's worth, and I should just give up!
