After I updated my Kindle 11th (2024) to version 5.18.1, I noticed that the screen shows more ghosting than in the previous version, 5.17.1.0.4. I don't know if the culprit is actually the new firmware, but the device definitely didn't have this problem before I updated.
Fortunately, I still have KOReader installed and, strangely, this problem doesn't affect the books I read on it. I recorded two slow-motion videos to demonstrate it better, although the effect is more visible in person.
The first video shows how the Kindle, in the standard interface, deals with the remnants of the previous page.
The second video shows how the screen handled these remnants before the firmware update. The letters sort of "fade in and out"; with the naked eye, you can still see a little, but not as much as in the first video. As I said, this problem doesn't occur when I use KOReader, so I recorded the second video - this is how the Kindle behaved before the update. Or is KOReader working its magic? Or maybe I'm going crazy.
