KOReader on Kobo

I am new to KOReader. Just to verify, if I want to use KOReader to read books I bought from Kobo then I need to liberate them into Calibre, remove the download of the bought book from the Kobo device and then send the books from Calibe back to the Kobo. Is that correct? I had noticed my purchased Kobo books were not showing in KOReader and figured out the problem and went through this process with a couple to test and it worked. But wanted to make sure there was not an easier way.
Thank you
