If I didn’t have the Nook app already installed I would probably just buy from Kobo. It is easier to use.
It seems a lot easier for me to just download the book to my Kindle from Amazon, then add the book to Calibre directly from the Kindle. With the right versions of the plugins, I'm able to have a backup of my books with no problem. It's not quite as easy as using download and transfer, but it works.
