So you replaced the full 32 GB? and it acted the same?
There's something wrong around the PMIC (Power Management IC).
Is this still under warranty?
I think that 913 mA was a clear sign. Either it's true and there's some problem somewhere or else it's false and the measurement is being scaled wrong. The battery current sensing resistor could have increased in value.
Possibilities: Turn it into a wall weather/time clock. Or fix it. Or sell it (to me?)
Thoughts: Is the shutdown the same in recovery?
