For me it doesn't even work with the included fonts. With the RMSDK renderer it worked just fine with any font – until they broke it in the latest update. It's not storing the setting correctly in the config file anymore..

With Epub being based on html and css and most renderering engines being based on actual web browsers, this really should work. IMO it's a little concerning that features as basic as this are broken.
Hyperlinks certainly are commonly used – a great percentage of my epubs have a table of contents with hyperlinks...
