I don't need a button to turn on any of my Echo devices. Just unplug and replug to reboot.
My suggestion was actually a joke, but yes... using a smart plug would require one to be knowledgeable enough to know whether or not it will work with your particular device(s). Luckily I AM that knowledgeable.
