calibre's viewer does not directly open a KFX format ebook. calibre first converts the ebook to ePub and then calibre's viewer displays the ePub. The only formats the calibre viewer displays without conversion are ePub (reflowable) and azw3/KF8 (reflowable). I've seen a couple of fixed layout ePubs displayed in calibre's viewer and the rendering is not anything you want to try to read.
