I cannot speak to Google or Samsung as I have no interest in their offerings.
The cost to buy a new battery and rent the tools is actually slightly more expensive then having Apple replace the battery. For an iPhone 12 Pro Max, it's $89 for Apple to do it. To buy the battery and rent the tools, it's $95.28. So it's cheaper for Apple to replace your battery then it is to do it yourself using Apple's battery and tools.
