I normally find Rakuten Serif / Kakugo quite good for legibility--I can happily read it without my glasses at night without having to bump up the font size several sizes above what I usually use. The one bit that annoys me is the lack of serif makes it difficult to tell whether I'm looking at a capital 'I' or lowercase 'L', especially when at the beginning of the word.
