If you see the heading, insert AutoUsbGadget=true under it.
If you don't see the heading, insert the following two lines:
[DeveloperSettings]
AutoUsbGadget=true
Re-insert the µSD card in your Clara HD, power it up and then connect it to your computer. If it has booted properly, you should see KOBOeReader as a mounted USB drive.
This will allow your Kobo to connect to your computer over USB without needing to tap on Connect in the pop-up.

thanks for the extra explanation.
I've added the
[DeveloperSettings]
AutoUsbGadget=true
settings to the config file.
Now, when I bootup the ereader I do hear the USB connect and inmmediately a disconnect sound from the computer.
So something is happening there, but there is no kobo mount available.
I've tried 3 new µSD card from different brands.
Nothing seems to do the trick.. it just shows a steady white LED.
I've purchased a 2nd hand clara HD off the internet, when it arrives I can try out the µSD card on there, and if needed also switch the screens.
Maybe that rules something out.
Any other tips are wel come of course
