Yes, kobo will send emails with bargains or have discounts. You should also check Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion thread. I don't believe they discount audiobooks if you buy ebooks. The prices depend on where you are: for me, Kobo is cheaper or the same as Amazon, but you can travel.
