Ambrose Pratt (1874-1944) was an Australian journalist, novelist, and world traveller, who produced some 30 novels and 20 or so non-fiction books. He also wrote a small number of short stories; this 2025 collection is the first time they've been assembled into book form. They amount to just 38,000 words in all, not enough for a profitable printed book, which is probably why they were not collected before. I made the cover, as obviously none existed before.
The stories are arranged in order of first publication.
 A Question of Respect
 A Perverted Punishment
 The Punishment of Life
 The Story of a Wrong
Saintin's "Madame"
 An Idyll of the Stalls
Scum of the Earth: No Liability
 A King's Word
 The Sonata Appassionata
 Poetic Justice
 The Iron Hand
The Necklace of the Nine Gems
 A Compound Felony
