NO on WD40 on contacts. (It is fine for pivots. but TEST somewhere other than something that must move. I have had plastic get gummy)
Contact cleaner (that is safe for plastic). With Lube if dust is not an issue. (we used to have 'Tuner Tonic' in the 60's, Volume control cleaner for those old variable resistor (pots) controls.
