Kcc settings- manga mode enabled, jpeg/png/moz checked, stretch upscale checked, cropping mode checked. Rest all unchecked.
Sadly I don't remember what version was giving me different result. But the more recent ones 7.xx and later 6.xx were giving comparatively larger file sizes. I don't know if the larger sizes give better quality too.

Are you using the PW1 (5th gen) or the PW5 (11th gen)? That might be the issue, since v6 renamed the profiles to use gen instead of number.
