Weekly Report:
Read:- Murder in an Irish Bookshop (Irish Village Mystery #7) by Carlene O'Connor (B-/3 stars)
- Murder on an Irish Farm (Irish Village Mystery #8) by Carlene O'Connor (B+/4 stars)
- Christmas Scarf Murder (Irish Village Mystery #8.5) by Carlene O'Connor (B-/3 stars)
- Murder at an Irish Bakery (Irish Village Mystery #9) by Carlene O'Connor (B-/3 stars)
- Murder at an Irish Chipper (Irish Village Mystery #10) by Carlene O'Connor (B+/4 stars)
- Ash of the Cinders by L Penelope (B/4 stars)
So many B- grades may not seem like it, but I actually enjoyed the Irish Village Mystery series a lot. Most of the full-length books I didn't rate higher were on the line between a B and B- but plot quibbles made B- the more accurate grade (which with my ratings system is 3 stars). For me a B- is still a "good" book and one I'd reread.
I meant to break the series up a bit and read other stuff in between but somehow kept going. The main narrator, Caroline Lennon, did a really good job. The family dynamics outshine the mysteries IMHO and I wish they'd featured more in many of the books. But if you like cozies I would definitely recommend you give the series a go.
