All the steps I went through seems to just keep KUAL and related items intact without resetting the device back to original. I went ahead and placed a blank file named DO_FACTORY_RESTORE in the Kindle's root directory and restarted. It did its thing and appears to have factory reset (or restored) the device. I went back through the sign-in and registration process.
KFT was still lingering around in the Settings menu. I understand it's just an artifact of the jailbreak process, but I'm looking for an "out of box" configuration on the device, so I decided to Factory Reset from Settings.
Went back through the sign-in and registration process and KFT is still in the Settings menu
