I would like to thank the Denizens of mobileread.com for their help.

I revived my old Kobo Touch N905C this morning.
It has been sitting on a shelf dead since 2019.
I stumbled across a replacement battery for in on TEMU.
I had given up in 2019 trying to find a battery for it. I ordered the two wire version which is what is in my Kobo. I was disappointed when I went to install it that the connector was not the same as the one on my board. I simply cut the old end off the old battery and soldered on the new one.

Kobo lights on the top where now working but still would not wake up.
I let it charge for a day or 2 but still dead.

Started reading up on this site and learned that can be the behaviour of a corrupted SD CARD. I ordered a new 8GB one and asked for the firmware to be PMed to me.

Put the firmware and booted right up! However setup would not completed as the software was to old to connect to kobo wireless or when with computer.

This is a known issue, solution is upgrade to newer version of software.
But as I learned the hard way you can not go latest version it is to far of a jump in one upgrade. I would install then rollback.

So I read you need to got version 4.35 to get setup to completed.
I loaded that manually on the SD card and kobo is working.
I synced all my books wireless and when it was done, I sync it again and it took the latest update.

I also extended the FAT32 partition to use the rest of the space on the sd card. So it now can hold 6GBs of books.

I think I will put card back and out and image it for a full backup.

Thank you everyone, that was a fun project.
Vic
