This question comes up every so often but AFAIK nobody who actually did this has offered an answer yet. I might suggest you give it a go and report your findings here, this will surely be useful to someone else.
To be on the safe side I would suggest you restore the OTA binaries (if you renamed them) before de-registering, as this is the most frequent source of issues with resets, but once this is done I guess the worse that could happen is that you’d have to jailbreak again.
