I never really use an on device store on any ereader. I was just surprised to hear other people still see it on the Kindle Touch. Since it always says it isn't available on mine (the admittedly few times I've tried), I thought it was one of the ones that didn't have it any more. I guess it is just the non-touch screen Kindles that officially no longer have direct access. But as you say, the important thing is the wifi ones still sync for now.
