A story of a fictional person who survived a Japanese labour camp in WWII.

The story was a little hard to follow because of the structure, as one had to work out whether the first person narrative was from the present or the past or the far past. Perhaps the typography gave more of a hint in the print version.

The story was OK. I didn't really understand the reason for the character's main decision at the end of the novel, which I expected to understand from the rest of the novel and I didn't.

3/5

Next up: City of Ruins by Kristine Kathryn Rusch. The second in her "diving" series.
