If you're seeing a difference in behaviour between 2.17.2 and 2.18.0 then the thing that would help the most is if you could create a debug log with both the old and the new version the way it is described at the bottom of the help file (click "Help" in the top right of the config dialog). Ideally when only syncing one or two books so that the log doesn't become too long. I know that's a bit onerous but it's the best way to see what differences there might be.

Ok sorry I haven't been responding but I haven't been able to recreate the issue since I set it to kobo libra color. I swapped it back to Any device and it works for all of them and no error pops up. I'm sorry but lets chalk this up to PEBKAC error on this one.
