Not sure if this is going to be of much help to you, but if you are in Edit Metadata Individually, you can long click on the Generate Cover cover and pop up it's configuration dialogue. Under the Fonts and Sizes tab, you can change to default cover image size. See attached image.

Damn... forgot to cancel and now need to restore the real cover image for that book. Fat fingers cause typos...
