I've never used that setting, but it appears to be openers_by_scheme in Calibre > Preferences > Tweaks. That may help.

I tried using the openers_by_scheme tweak and despite copying the code straight from the explanation it didn't work. I realize that is part of calibre and not FFF, but what's interesting is that it broke the ability to open links from the metadata tab (e.g. the URL in the IDs section). I've never had trouble clicking the ID link and having it open a new tab in Firefox before, and resetting the tweak also restored the ability. So I suspect the tweak is not related to the issue. Also FFF does open new tabs in the browser, but I suspect only when the webpage is not found in the cache, not expired. Clearing Firefox's cache means FFF starts opening the webpages again (not that it's helping much... Does this chapter open for anyone else? I've been sporadically getting this error but the story has 12 chapters right now... even though the metadata on the top of the page says 7.)

Meanwhile, selecting the problematic fanfics in Calibre's main browser and trying to update them again results in an immediate termination (usually Fanficfare takes quite a while fetching metadata and so on) and no new listing in the 'job' panel (so the only error logs I'm getting are the basic 'not found or expired in cache' type messages). Updating from email with the same story results in the usual metadata fetching and pages opening in Firefox though. Is this expected behaviour?
