Getting the .acsm (Adobe Content Server Message) is quite normal since they are needed for downloading an Adobe DRM encumbered ePub.
You would need to install ADE for Mac. Create your Adobe ID and then you should be able to use ADE to download the ePub using the .acsm file. Once you have that working, install the ACSM plugin for calibre (originally called the DeACSM plugin just to confuse matters.
The 4 options for activating the ACSM plugin are:
- linking to an ADE account (this does consume an activation slot but if you run out, you can always beg Adobe for more). Simply enter the email address used to create your Adobe account.
- importing the activation from ADE though I've never done that on a MAC.
- anonymous activation is not something I would recommend.
- if you have previously used the ACSM plugin and exported it's settings on a different machine or install, you can import that file.
Also note that you will need to use the DeDRM plugin if you want to remove DRM from the downloaded ePub.
