Not all books have DRM. Some of those sites sell only DRM-free books, others have some DRM-free books and some with DRM. Kobo and Pocketbook ereaders support epubs with Adobe DRM, which are sold by Kobo.com, Ebooks.com and Google Play.
That said, many of us do remove DRM from all our purchased ebooks. Not only for readability; we also want to make our own backups, and some of us like to edit the formatting.
