I second you on the lack of balance. I suffer from neuropathy in my left foot (diabetes related) that led to when I broke my ankle, my walking around for about a month not realizing it was broken. That in turn led to a sore on the ankle that wouldn't heal and a diagnosis of Charcot foot.
Since then I've either been in a custom boot from knee down, or now a custom orthotic sole in a customized New Balance shoe.
