In the School of Computer Science here at CMU we certainly try hard to take care of students who've been um.... is screwed too strong a word?... by the departure of an advisor.

It would be nice if the university here would do the same ..

I suggest that you think a bit about which person (administrative or faculty) is most likely to be able to connect you with a tutor who would be willing to work with you on your intended project.

The only problem I see is that I already talked to everybody who (in my eyes) could have an interest (e.g. because (s)he is working in a similar field). But it might well be that I missed s/o - thanks for the proposition

P.S. Feel free to send a PM if you need some more Academic advice. Just be aware that my viewpoint has been formed in US Academic institutions and so may not match well with your system.

One of the problems is that time is running out - even if I find s/o to tutor my thesis, I'll still have problems completing my thesis on time .. (Yesterday was not the first attempt to find s/o (or even the first attempt to speak with this lecturer)). Oh well - in the long run it will somehow work out, and in the worst case I am loosing one year
