Thinking about it, I realized that before my last reset, I must have disabled OTA updates. So I started following the procedure here: https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaki...m-a-reset.html

I installed KUAL and then renameOTAbin, but unfortunately, after performing the restore, the update button remains grayed out.

Does anyone have any ideas, please?
You have to force a reinstall of the firmware version currently running on your Kindle. Download the official OTA from the Amazon website, and then follow the instructions in this post from shamanNS.

You will have to re-do the jailbreak after the OTA is installed if you want to keep it as installing the OTA will remove it.
