That warning is unexpected but it should not result in termination of the conversion process. I cannot explain why the conversion log ends there.
As an alternative since you can open the EPUB in the Kindle Previewer, you should be able to generate a KPF file by using the File-Export menu choice in the Previewer. That file can then be imported into calibre and converted to KFX.
