And how often do you do a massive BULK operation?
A name change is a
directory entry, the files do not move.
Conversion is a number crunch task. RAM and CPU. Read the book into RAM, crunch, write.
Delete is another Directory operation (The files are still really there until you empty trash AND compact the drive)
Been wrangling Hard drives a looong time.

(I had 8 sets of these on the floor. The front is the controller. Each box is 2G and 2000lbs)
