The solution would be to merge a lot of those short files into anthologies and omnibuses. Easily done in Calibre with the Epub Merge plugin

Yes, I just did as you said. Merge the short books.
And before that I tried to see how they display the book limit. And realized that. If the order of the books is from 1 to 15000, then when we send book 15001 (or more), book number 1 (oldest) will not show up on the device anymore. We will have books number 2 to 15001. Make sure it is exactly 15000 books.
And with the original book number 1, although it does not show up on the Kindle device, it still exists in the Library. And we can use "deliver" to send it to the device. And now, it acts as a sideload book. It cannot synchronize the reading progress.
