Amazon will reduce image size if "too" big and delete fonts if "too" many. The actual figure are not obvious on Amazon publishing info.

Publishers / Authors should put all the maps etc on websites (unless it's an atlas, graphic novel etc).
Of course it's a scam. There is no reason at all to reduce the image size/quality. Even for those on cell service. 2G is dead. 3G is either dead or dying and all that's left will be 4G/5G.

Amazon reduces images from what they think is too big to too small. I think a class action suit against Amazon should be filed to try to get this nonsense stopped.
