UPDATE:
this seemed to work:
1) Create a blank file in Notepad titled DO_FACTORY_RESTORE
Remove the .txt extension from the file you created in File Explorer
2) Connect the Kindle to your computer using a USB cable.
3) Copy the file you created into the root directory (don't put into any folder) of your Kindle.
Do a reset of the Kindle by holding down on the power button (20 secs, not the short restart) till the Kindle restarts. It should (fingers crossed) perform a factory reset.

so i factory reseted the kindle and tried to do the jailbreaking process again. i could do the winterbreak patch but after that, i wasnt able to install the hotfix anymore, regardless if i put it in the root directory and tried to install it via software update (it would just tell me that my software is up to date) or through mrpi with ;log mrpi (i get a blank screen and a log document afterwards). my guess is that since i disabled the ota update im not able anymore to install the hotfix. but i have no idea how to enable ota updates again.
i tried the suggestion one commenter mentioned here with modifying the winterbreak jb.sh by adding some lines of code from the renameotabin\bin\restore.sh. no luck unfortunately.
does anybody know how i can reenable the ota updates again?
i attached my log file
