My details: I'm using a KOA3 on the latest firmware -- unfortunately I'm stuck and I can't "Open KUAL" as the guide states (meaning I got so far as the "Disabling OTA Updates" page on the [IKindleModding.org site[/I]). I've tried to review the thread's posts so far but I think I'm not seeing any Oasis users here yet or anything specifically referencing this error beyond a few similar statements.
I'm the second one here to quote this toggleable KFT option post now specifically and I couldn't find any reference of that for Kindle jailbreaking in my searches -- only here so far. I don't know what this does either.
The only thing I think I would've done wrong is realize once I installed "Update_KUALBooklet_*_install.bin" (KUAL and MRPI together) and the lack of an KUAL boot option leaving me unable to proceed with the guide (is it another bootable book like the WinterBreak hotfix?), I tried to install "Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_v2.7.35_install.bin " via the ;log mrpi option as the next step, which installed (I believe) and showed the lockscreen again. It didn't do anything to fix the lack of a KUAL setting available, so I learned this must might only have to be installed via being in the root of the storage and via the Update Your Kindle option, as mentioned under Troubleshooting in the guide. I got a pop-up notif that it was an Invalid Package or something along those lines, similarly to what I believe was mentioned earlier in this thread. I cannot use the uninstall variant of the KUALBooklet file via the mrpi screen either, as it gives me an error.
I hope this isn't a user error or it's just a bug since everything is so new.

Not that my post got any replies yet, unfortunately (the error was confusing and I never figured out what went wrong exactly), but if anyone is encountering the same issue: somehow, it fixed itself. Maybe updating WinterBreak via the hotfixes released after I sent my post helped?
I installed the current WinterBreak hotfix, redownloaded the KUAL files again just in case, and tried to uninstall KUAL Coplate and reinstall it, that was finally showing the KUAL document (although I was also getting an error log document I don't understand!), then installed KUAL hotfix properly. During the mrpi command installer screen, it would say successful install but once again quickly show an application error which I'm not sure is normal or not -- but THIS time, bizarrely, everything is working now and I don't know what changed in the factors. Quite frustrating! Even more so when other KOA3 users were fine here!
I'm hoping the error log document won't keep appearing, if it does I'll have to consult the dev.
I would love to see some guides/additional resources shared about what to actually do once jailbroken for the newcomers to the scene.. kindlemodding.org seems pretty geared towards the technical and longtime-modders side of things and kindlemodding.gitbook.io has a bit more on post-jailbreak content. And then this
hacks page that linked in the guide . I'll have to go over and carefully read this thread a few times just to understand what version of KOReader to install!

More info would be much appreciated and very helpful!
