I don't know anything about the Max3. Is that Rockchip or Qualcomm?
Do you only get the battery screen?
It might have corrupted itself when the battery ran out in the drawer.
There's only a few ways forward then. Either disconnect the battery and reconnect. Maybe with buttons pressed. I don't know about Rockchip low level loaders. If it were Qualcomm, you could use EDL to force it to recovery and do factory reset or sideload an update.
