In any case, Calibre is not the issue. I went to Wally World and bought a micro to usb cable made to transfer data while charging.

Still nothing. My computer does not see the device. I'm going to have to go to a library and try my oasis on one of their computers. I can't think of anything else.

This oasis is from 2018. Is it possible they made the usb port for just charging?

Edited to add: I tried downloading calibre right from their website using the command for terminal. In the terminal, I received this message:

You are missing the system library libxcb-cursor.so.0

I have no idea what that means or how I get it, so I went to the software manager and downloaded their most recent version. If I can figure out how to install the program from the calibre website, of course I would uninstall the mint version and do it. However, as I stated, Calibre is not the problem.
