I feel let down by internet spies. There wasn't even a whiff of this until about 2 days ago! I guess I'm just saying that if I had known this new model was in the works I would have waited.

I sympathize with your frustration. However for myself I don't find it annoying; it seems to me that the K2 and the K3 are intended for different markets.
The K2 is great for reading novels and those books that don't require large pictures or tables of data.
The K3, unless I miss my guess, will be great for reading regular (A4? 8 1/2 X 11, anyway) pdfs of class handouts, textbooks and journal articles, but will be too big, and possibly too expensive (crosses fingers, hoping not), to appeal to the leisure reader who wants something she can slip in a bag or a large pocket and use to read books for pleasure on the bus or the plane.
People who really need the larger size of the K3 will bite the bullet and put up with the extra bulk (and cost), while for someone who wants to read "Pride and Prejudice" or "His Majesty's Dragon" those are just drawbacks.
Of course, before I actually shell out $$ for the K3 I will probably wait and see what the Plastic Logic and the EZ Reader True are like.
Oh my gosh I just had a great idea what could go on a large-format reader; D&D books! I have a whole shelf of those; it would be great to put them all on one device, searchable, annotateable,
portable. (swoons)
Okay, for *that* I might go Kindle even if the other ones are cheaper.
