I'd love to know how Spicediver got his hands on the extra footage. He must have worked at the studio, snuck in one night, and picked up all the editors offcuts from the floor. There were some short scenes of low quality, looked like 480 upscaled.

I believe they were scenes pulled from extras on the different Blu-ray versions and scenes from the extended TV cut. On Archive.org he talks a bit about the work done (adding blue back to the Fremen's eyes on the replaced scenes, for instance).
