I'm still on Win7 as I have programs that only run on win7. I could go forward to 4.23 but I doubt that would make a difference and it seems like the recommended course for Win7 is to install 3.48. As my 4.12 runs ok I'm not keen to change it (and I think I recall I broke something when I tried to update). The plugin I'm trying to change is for 3.48 anyway but was working ok on my 4.12.
The changes to the driver.py seem not that complicated but I don't understand where or how fwversion is used. It's defined in the driver but never used as far as I can see.
