As to the warning about the PW6, it is valid if the poster plans to sell/give away/trade in their older Kindle and use only the PW6, AND also buys most of their ebooks from Amazon. But buying a PW5 instead of PW6 (like the OP wants to do) would certainly help.
you no that exactly what i was thinking and why i got a paperwhite signture edition 11th gen ( needed more memory as sometimes i read comics and listen to audiobooks) usually id go for the more up to date version

my partners happy to have his paperwhite back.
