I recently remembered another movie (in colour) based on a novel I enjoyed (the movie, haven't read the book yet): "Rosemary's Baby".
Interestingly there's one book by the author of "Rosemary's Baby", Ira Levin, which wasn't made into a movie: "This Perfect Day". I've read this book some years ago and I really wonder why nobody has used it as a basis for a movie.
