I believe that many Onyx have "press power button 5 times while booting".

I'm not a fan of goofy things (because I'm not adept at them). Unless I'm watching the booting over UART I never get the timing right even when I know exactly what it's looking for.

I presume that you never get ADB at any point? If you had it enabled you might be able to get a quick command in and stop it.

Half broken can be the biggest challenge. Totally broken gets you EDL mode.

If playing with buttons doesn't get you anywhere you can open this up and look for EDL test points. In the past these have been blatantly obvious, but my Poke5 you practically needed a microscope to find them. In any case, I'm interested to see what's inside!

Be very careful opening large devices. They are much more susceptible to twisting damage than a 6" ereader.
