The film in fact was pretty good and was nominated/awarded for various prizes, but it was mostly based on a middle book in the series and did only fair box office. So that was the end of that.
For me, it's the 9 times that a "Parker" novel was adapted to a movie. All are standalone, despite there being groups of books in the series that cry out to be a series of movies, and some of the movies are based on books from those groups.

There's a series with Mark Wahlberg starring as Parker coming out, and it might have a chance of doing the character justice.
