I've also noticed wandering last read page, but usually for me it goes backwards and not more than a page. Or I bumped something before closing the cover, idunno. Will have to watch more closely.
But note that there are a number of things that could cause phantom page turns.
For instance, if your sleep cover isn't working well and the kobo wakes up because something shifted, and something managed to register as a touch/hold on the corner of the screen, the kobo could go into quick page turn mode until it hits the end of the book...
I thought quick page turn could be disabled, but I can't find the option if there is one.
You could try disabling the sleep cover in the energy options and see if the problem goes away.
