Kobo supports a Subtitle (from a designated column that you set in the Driver. Note this is transferred upon the second connect)

First thing I do after importing to Calibre is Kruft removal / relocation.
eg 'a novel' or other things that have a Calibre place
Series go there. Novel ->Tags (if you care). Boxed Set ->tags

In addition, I 'singular' things like Mysteries (if it is needed in the title). This book is ONE MYSTERY in a series. Mystery is a Genre, so it may not BE NEEDED in the title. 'Mystery of the Broken Lock' stays. 'Broken Locket Mystery' removed (It is Tagged as a Mystery)

I thin some things. The complete Series -> (Complete). Shorten some things.
The only time I DO leave title stuff is when needed as a Tie Breaker.
(The title is only the Series: Name Bk1, Name Bk2...)
There is no one size answer.
