Yes, I am sure that this thread will scare away most newbies to ebooks. However, us regulars are very familiar with this discussion.
I have had an interesting week. A hinge on my laptop broke and my computer had to be returned to HP for repair. A library book that I had on hold came available. Without a working copy ADE, I had no way to transfer the book to my Nook. So, I either had to use the Libby app or just use read with Kindle. I read for a while on my PW4. I realized that what I really dislike about the PW4 is the slow response to page turn taps. If the new Paperwhites are as fast as many people have said, I might actually get used to it. (I can't believe I just said that).LOL
I like my Oasis just fine, but I am not crazy about the asymmetrical shape. Even though Amazon is a walled garden, they do a good job of making that garden very user friendly as long as you use your Kindle as intended. I personally like STK and the syncing of sideloaded content is a huge plus.
I am a bit insulted that Amazon just dismisses their customers that use page turn buttons as unimportant, but if I found myself for some reason needing to go back to Amazon, I could live with it. I too am growing weary of jumping through hoops to liberate all my book files.
